🤝 Meet Brian Galloway, Senior Software Developer at IlluviumLet's dive into the world of Brian Galloway, a key player behind the scenes at Illuvium.🖥️ How did you first get involved with Illuvium?"I was looking for a new job and happened across a posting for Illuvium. I had always wanted to get into gaming development, so I gave it a shot and ended up joining the team."🌟 Can you describe a moment that was particularly rewarding for you at Illuvium? "The Overworld PB3 release was a big one for me. I had been basically the sole backend developer on Overworld since its early versions, so seeing my work coming through the Epic Games store to a worldwide audience was a major point of pride."💼 What's one thing about game development that might surprise people outside the industry? "My career has spanned quite a number of industries, and this is actually my first foray into gaming development. The biggest surprise is the lack of surprises; from a backend perspective, it's not all that different from other jobs I've had. Same kinds of processes, same kinds of problems... just another day at the office."🐾 Favourite Illuvial and why? "I tend to use Doka a lot, mainly because most of my testing work involves low-level runs and he's one of the basic ones. But also I like the idea that he's a fighter, running right in and scrapping with the other guys. As someone who's been training in martial arts for several years, I find him more relatable than the more exotic ones."💪 If you could have a superpower to help with your job, what would it be? "I've always thought teleportation would be a useful power, mainly because I hate driving in city traffic. Now that I'm working from home the daily commute isn't an issue, but I do still spend quite a lot of time driving my daughter around to her many after-school activities. Attention Rangers!The moment we've all been eagerly anticipating has finally arrived. We now have a confirmed Launch Date.On the 25th of July, the Illuvium Universe opens.While we could launch sooner, we want to include the following features to make the launch considerably more impactful and secure:Arena• Gauntlet Mode• New Weapons SystemOverworld• Combat• NPC Interactions• Economy Adjustments• Character Customisation• Forge UX RevampZero• Missions• iOS/Play Store• PC/Mac Support with Mobile UIBackend / Security• Maintenance - Game PausesWe are not guaranteeing that all features will be ready before the launch date, but we intend to include as many as possible. After discussing this with the Community Council and the Main Council, we believe that even a few of these features will significantly improve the gaming experience across all three games and will be worth the wait. Additionally, this extra time allows us to optimise the economy and ensure our security and backend systems are ready to handle the load.As these features become available, we will integrate them into the testnet build, which will be accessible to all participants with access.
